Updates, patches and bug fixes for ADELINE version 2.0 are available for users from this page.

Note that these patches can only be used together with a licenced copy of ADELINE 2.0.

To install a patch,

  1. Get the file(s) (zipped) from this page via your WWW browser
  2. Put it on an arbitrary location on your hard disk or on a floppy
  3. Change to the directory where ADELINE is installed (e.g. c:\adeline)
  4. Enter unzip -o some_location\patchxx at the DOS prompt.

Patch 1 (Version 2.00.01 of July 22, 1996)

This patch fixes the following bugs:
  • SUPERLITE: Saving of input files to disks from the user interface was wrong in case of models not containing enclosure surfaces. This lead to a crash when the graphical input control or the simulation was started.
  • DXF-Converter dxfconv (converting DXF to RADIANCE directly): POLYLINE entities were shifted to wrong location during conversion.

Patch 2 (Version 2.00.02 of July 24, 1996)

This patch contains patch01 and fixes the following bugs:
  • SUPERLITE graphics: Selecting a simulation hour other than the first in the simulation loop was not possible. Fixed now.
  • SUPERLITE graphics: Graphics output was not possible for clear sky models. Fixed now.
  • SUPERLINK: Read error for plot files (sky model 2 - clear sky with sun) fixed.

Patch 3 (Version 2.00.03 of July 25, 1996)

This patch contains patch01 and patch02 and fixes the following bugs:
  • SUPERLITE: Data for overhangs was not written correctly when input file was saved to disk in case of multiple windows. Bug fixed.
  • SUPERLITE: For comprehensive input mode, overhang reflectance and transmittance other than 0% was not possible to enter. Bug fixed.
  • SUPERLITE: For comprehensive input mode, display of check box window has overhang in window dialog was wrong. Bug fixed.
  • PLINK/SUPERLITE: Location of overhangs in SUPERLITE comprehensive input mode was wrong in case of windows with height/width > 1. Reason: PLINK does rearrangement of polygon vertices in order to fix the local coordinate system of each surface to the longest edge. Bug fixed: Rearrangement is supressed for all window element types. Note that rearrangement is still performed for all other element types.
  • SUPERLITE graphics output: Data readin error for sky model 2 (clear sky with sun) in case of models with multiple clear windows fixed.

Patch 4 (Version 2.00.04 of July 30, 1996)

Note: You have to get patch03.zip first!

This patch fixes the following bugs:

  • SUPERLITE: Output plot was not possible for weather model <> 2 (no time loop). Bug fixed.
  • SUPERLITE: Changes in output graphics option dialog: if the weather model <> 2 (no time loop), then the month/hour entries are unavailable. If a time loop is used, then the month/hour entries are initialized to the first month/hour in the loop automatically.
  • SUPERLITE: Program crashed when an input file in wrong format (e.g. ADELINE 1.0 format) was read in. Bug fixed.
  • SUPERLITE output graphics: In some cases the window projection was not displayed correctly. Bug fixed.
  • SUPERLITE output graphics: Sun patch was not shown for clear sky with sun conditions. Bug fixed.
  • SUPERLITE output graphics: External surfaces (enclosure_a/b) were not taken into account during sun patch calculation. Bug fixed.

Patch 5 (Version 2.00.05 of August 09, 1996)

This patch fixes the following bugs:

  • SUPERLITE: For comprehensive input mode, overhang reflectance and transmittance other than 0% was not possible to enter. Bug finally fixed.
  • SUPERLITE: Reading of window type identifiers was wrong comprehensive mode, i.e. all windows were displayed as clear windows. Bug fixed.
  • SUPERLITE: Writing of enclosure obstruction data from user interface to file was wrong in case of enclosures with more than one surface. Bug fixed.

Patch 6 (Version 2.00.06 of September 03, 1996)

This patch fixes the following bugs:

  • SUPERLINK: Due to conversion error for exterior horizontal illuminance, SUPERLINK reported no energy savings at all for some model (e.g. the tutorial model). Bug fixed.
  • SUPERLINK: Additional dialog box for user confirmation of new SUPERLITE runs to prevent unwanted overwriting of files.

Patch 7 (Version 2.00.07 of September 12, 1996)

This patch fixes the following bugs:

  • SUPERLITE: In version 2.00.06 a bug has been introduced which crashed the user interface program when the output plot for a SUPERLITE file is started (message appears onscreen telling the user that a file with a weird name is not found). Bug fixed.
  • SUPERLITE: In the output plot program a bug has been fixed which suppressed the plot output in case of more than 200 nodes on the selected work surface.

Patch 8 (Version 2.00.08 of September 17, 1996)

This patch fixes the following bugs:

  • SUPERLITE: A bug in the electric lighting component has been fixed which caused strange displays of models in the input plot.

Patch 9 (Version 2.00.09 of October 22, 1996)

Note: This is a debug version of the user interface

This patch fixes the following bugs:

  • SUPERLITE: This version provides a work-around for a problem that appears when a model without enclosure surface is saved from the user interface program: a wrong enclosure id is set for windows without enclosure. The bug is not yet fixed, but this version prevents program crash. Messages showing the enclosure id will be shown onscreen when the model is saved. These messages can be ignored.

Patch 10 (Version 2.00.10 of November 06, 1996)

Note: You have to get patch03.zip, patch04.zip, patch06.zip, patch07.zip, patch08.zip and patch09.zip first!

This patch fixes the following bugs:

  • SUPERLITE: Two bugs concerning electric lighting were fixed: first luminaires were not rotated correctly when the model was rotated, second electric lighting was not calculated when there was no natural light from the outside. The remarks from patch 9 are still valid.

Patch 11c (Version 2.00.11 of November 06, 1996)

Note: This is a complete patch you do not have to get any of the patches so far.

This patch fixes the following bugs:

  • SUPERLITE: Models without enclosure surface are saved correcly (see Patch 9). No messages are shown when the model is saved.
  • SUPERLITE: Superlite Plots are now correct for models on the southern hemisphere.
  • PLINK: a bug was fixed concerning the conversion of 11xx layer from Scribe-Modeller-Files.

Patch 12 (Version 2.00.12 of December 17, 1996)

Note: You have to get patch11c.zip first!
  • RADLINK: A bug was fixed so that the worksurface data will be read and rewritten when *.rif file are handled.
  • SUPERLINK/RADLINK: The holiday-file dialog has been altered. Holiday files can be edited from the dialog now. Please be aware that the saved holiday file only is the handeled program parameter, so save the file after changing the holiday list contens.

Patch 13 (Version 2.00.13 of Januar 29, 1997)

Note: You have to get patch11c.zip first!
  • RADLINK/SUPERLINK: A bug was fixed concerning file selection of the holiday file.
  • RADLINK: A bug was fixed so multiple knotes can be selected for calculation know.
  • RADLINK: The function of the OK button within the RADLINK options/site definition dialog was fixed.

Patch 14 (Version 2.00.14 of Februar 10, 1997)

Note: You have to get patch11c.zip first!
  • SUPERLINK: SUPERLINK files used to link the last SUPERLITE file which was created when importing the Scribe Model. When saving the *.src file with a new name this link was kept, thus no changes were saved when changing the SUPERLITE options after opening such a file. Now the correct link to the *.in file is saved..
  • RADLINK: runtime problems concerning file names were fixed
  • RADLINK: calibration of data files was corrected
  • PLINK : default options were changed: no abiente light (-av 0.0 0.0 0.0) is used for calculations and one abient bounce (-ab 1) is used for low quality caculation.
  • RADLINK : The number of abiente bounces can be set even for the low quality calulations.

  • SUPERLITE problems with the angle of orientation for simple model input were fixed. Up to now the rotation was done twice, leading to wrong orientation of the room.

Patch 18 (Version 2.00.18 of July 25, 1997)

  • SUPERLINK Patch for calculation of the switching point. Sometimes switching was done at a fixed level of 1000 lux
  • SUPERLINK Know it is possible to look at the SUPERLINK Input Plot.
  • SUPERLINK The different sky models will be plotted as selected in the Output Plot Options dialog. (Only after completed Superlink calculation)

Patch 19 (Version 2.00.19 of August 30, 1997)

  • SUPERLINK/RADLINK: mimor problems for the different lighting control strategies where fixed (this could have led to a little higher energy savings for 2,3,4 step on/off control) and the task illuminace level for manual switching probability was fixed to 500lux fixed to 500lux to emphasize that the probability is independed on the given task illuminace level (see Superlink/Radlink User Manual page 6).

Known Problems and Unfixed Bugs

  • SUPERLITE/PLINK: PLINK uses a tolerance of .2 SCRIBE-units to determine if two surfaces are coplanar. This could lead to problems, especially if luminaire groups are drawn very close to the ceiling of a model, since the current SUPERLITE version does not allow luminaire groups to be cut off from any other surface. This means, for instance, that if the user draws in meters and a luminaire group is not more than 20 cm under the ceiling, the luminaire group and the ceiling are considered to be coplanar. This may lead to a program crash in SUPERLITE.

  • We will try to fix this problems a.s.a.p.
  • SUPERLITE Graphics: Plot is only possible if not more than 20 nodes are used in each axis direction on the work surfaces.

  • Work around: Use coarser grid (see Edit|General... dialog)
  • SUPERLITE: When the accuracy parameters (node distribution) for comprehensive models are changed within the user interface program (via Edit|General...), the node distribution is not changed for the surfaces. Will be fixed a.s.a.p.

  • Work-around: After the parameters have been changed, save them to a parameter definition file using File|Save Parameters as... . Re-import the SCRIBE model again using this parameter file.
